We have been avid cruisers since taking our first cruise back in the 80’s. Doris started dabbling in the cruise industry not long after but never really pursued becoming a full time agent. Due to her passion for cruising, Doris’s hobby became studying cruises and cruise ships, as evidenced by the library of magazines and brochures in our home. She would advise or book friends and neighbors on cruises but as life goes on, she let her credentials expire. After retirement, a 3 week 50th anniversary cruise caught her eye. She called an agent to book it. During the transaction the agent said to her, “You’re so knowledgeable about this cruise you should be the agent.” After some extensive research into various cruise agencies, we started Unpack Once and Done, LLC, a licensed and insured agency. We affiliated ourselves with the Avoya Travel network where they combine the ease of online search with the element of human touch, expertise, support, and value.

We were both retired by 2018 and the first thing we did was to hop on to the inaugural cruise of the Norwegian Bliss, the largest cruise ship to ever pass through the Panama Canal! After returning home we moved out of Northern California and into our RV, spending a year traveling the country. As we traveled, we realized we needed to find a house that was closer to both kids and grandkids, and remembered a little town outside of Lake Tahoe, Nevada that we loved during our annual trip to Street Vibration Days. Dayton is a small suburb near Virginia City that seemed to have everything we wanted, a small-town feel, a growing community and value placed on local businesses (run, don’t walk, to the Road Runner café for their biscuits and gravy…thank us later!). When a house became available, we jumped at the chance to buy it. We are proud to be Dayton’s first travel agency and looking forward to being a part of this growing community!
